WALL OF FIRST LADIES

Welcome to the Wall of First Ladies. At the beginning of Governor Ruth Ann Minner’s administration, Woodburn’s collection of First Ladies' portraits was incomplete. Legislative Hall contains portraits of every governor of Delaware, dating back to when governors were referred to as presidents.
“All of our former governors are recognized, and their First Ladies have contributed so much to the state but were not recognized. I wanted to honor these magnificent women, and that’s where my vision for the Wall of First Ladies began,” said Governor Minner.
The First Ladies included on the wall are those who lived at Woodburn and contributed to its contemporary charm. Private fundraising contributed to the completion of this unique project. All of the portraits have been individually painted and unveiled in Woodburn’s Great Hall throughout Governor Minner’s administration.
